PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM PREDOSA AND SEZZADIO ENJOY A REAL EXPERIENCE ABOUT
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
This educational project created and organised by Riccoboni Holding is part of the “PiantiAMO il Futuro” initiatives promoted by Derthona Basket
Upper primary school students in Predosa and Sezzadio spent their morning learning about the environment with the “A scuola con…l’economia circolare” project.
This educational project created and organised by Riccoboni Holding is part of the “PiantiAMO il Futuro” initiatives promoted by Derthona Basket linked to training on 2030 Agenda topics.
Riccoboni came up with the idea of “PiantiAMO il Futuro” to celebrate the amazing feat accomplished by Derthona Basket in the 2020/2021 season with a “sustainable” legacy (thirty-two trees: maple, lime, ash and hornbeam planted in Tortona around the Dellepiane theatre and swimming pool).
Lasting 2 hours with an environmental education officer, these meetings took place at the De Amicis primary school in Predosa on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st February, while the Santo Stefano primary school in Sezzadio hosted the third meeting on Thursday 22nd February.
The educational meetings were designed to be connected by teachers to curricular subjects, based on the specific differences in learning level depending on the class attended, as well as to civic education teaching according to guidelines from the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research.
The classroom workshop took place using dynamic, engaging teaching techniques in order to make environmental sustainability a real experience. The following tools were used during the teaching activities: discussing ideas and thoughts, roleplay and movement games, and group activities.
“This educational project aims to introduce students to environmental sustainability in an engaging way based on participation, and the world of the circular economy is a tangible, substantial part of this, in order to make sustainability attractive and feasible every day through our actions”, explained Nicole Riccoboni, the Special Project Manager at Riccoboni Holding. “In line with the 2030 Agenda goals, sustainability is about a real focus on the environment, but also on people, and involves a process of awareness as well as action”.
